The trek to Yamunotri temple is a full day excursion 5km walk from Janki Chatti which takes 2-3 hours from one side, pilgrims can also hire horses and ponies on rent to visit comfortably at yamunotri temple. The trek is covered by tough peaks and forests. The climate is unfiendly with major parts covered in snow for most time of the year. Pilgrims must carry light to heavy woollen whenever he is travelling to Yamunotri. There are govt bus services available for the Jankichatti from Dehradun and Rishikesh.

The Yamunotri temple premises opens up for the devotees around 7-8 am in the morning. A short recess sort of period is maintained between 1 pm and 4 pm. After that, darshan hours resume again. The Yamunotri temple closing timings is 8 pm.
