If you are a devout Hindu, the Chardham yatra is of immense importance. These four holy pilgrimage sites are opened for pilgrims only for a brief six months, which commences from the month of April and May. The dates are usually declared by the Char Dham temple committee, Kedar-Badri Mandir Samiti before the holy day of Akshaya Tritiya. A highly auspicious day for the Hindu community Akshaya Tritiya also known as Akha Teej is believed to bring good luck.

Opening & closing time of chardham yatra's Temples
Chardham yatra is a sessional yatra between April to November, chardham shrines opens and closes at holy particular time every year.
- Yamunotri Temple -The Yamunotri shrine kapat opens on Akshaya Tritiya and shuts down on Yama Dwitiya day each year.
- Gangotri Temple – The Gangotri shrine Kapat opens on Akshaya Tritiya day and closes with the onset of the Diwali festival.
- Kedarnath Temple -The opening and closing of the Kapat of Kedarnath shrine is decided by temple committee on the day of Maha Shivratri. Generally, the shrine closes on the Yama Dwitiya day (the day following Diwali ) each year.
- Badrinath Temple -In case of the Badrinath shrine, the Kapat opening date is decided on the occasion of Basant Panchami by head priest each year while the closing date is decided by Mandir committee on the occasion of Vijayadashami each year.
