The Holy Town Uttarkashi is Set on the banks of river Bhagirathi at an elevation of 1158 Meters above sea level in uttarakhand (India), it is around 145 Kms from Rishikesh en-route To Gangotri.Uttarkashi town is the district headqurter of Uttarkashi district. It is believed to have similar religious importance as Kashi. The famous Vishwanath Temple here is dedicated to Lord Shiva. There is a unique mahadev shiva's great trishul (trident) in front of the temple which is made of unique 8 metals. It is believed lord shiva killed vakasur with this Trident. Some other important temples are dedicated to lord Parashuram, lord Ekadash Rudra and goddess Kali.

2: The second way to reach uttarkashi is via mussoorie, it is bit longer route than chamba route to visit uttarkashi, after reaching "Barkot" there is a point called "Dubbata band" from here take right turn towards dharasu band, from "Dharasu band" take left turn from here to reach uttarkashi, uttarkashi town is just at a 30min distance from dharasu band.
